WORLD MAYOR 2016
The Longlist The 2016 World Mayor Project was launched on 1 February 2016. The current longlist for this year’s World Mayor Prize includes mayors who, together with their communities, have since the beginning of 2015 made exceptional efforts to welcome refugees and integrate migrants. Some of the mayors listed below have, even in the face of strong opposition, steadfastly defended the rights of all people to be treated with compassion and be offered safety. They have also repeatedly stressed the contributions immigrants have made to their cities. More names will be added in the coming weeks. The 2016 World Mayor shortlist has now been announced.
